EkoSetiawangsa: Strategic Partnership Launched to Establish Setiawangsa as Malaysia’s First Eco-District

On June 23rd, a strategic partnership was launched between Cuci Malaysia and @ekosetiawangsa to transform Setiawangsa into Malaysia’s first eco-district. This ambitious initiative aims to implement a comprehensive hyper-local sustainability action plan that involves all stakeholders, including residents, commercial entities, associations, NGOs, and local authorities.

Collaborative Effort for Sustainability

The project is designed to be a collaborative, bottom-up effort, supported by key organizations such as @nresmalaysia, @mgtc.my, @urbanicemalaysia, @dbkl_malaysia, and @yayasanhijaumalaysia. This broad coalition of partners will work together to foster sustainable urban development practices and create a model for eco-friendly living in Setiawangsa.

Key Components of the Eco-District

The eco-district initiative will focus on several key areas to ensure comprehensive sustainability:

  1. Waste Management: Implementing efficient waste segregation, recycling programs, and reducing landfill contributions.
  2. Energy Efficiency: Promoting the use of renewable energy sources and enhancing energy efficiency in residential and commercial buildings.
  3. Green Spaces: Increasing green spaces and urban gardens to improve air quality and provide recreational areas for the community.
  4. Water Conservation: Encouraging water-saving practices and the use of sustainable water management systems.
